‘Baby Doe’ case: List of allegations against mom, her boyfriend
The judge also set bail for Bond at $1 million “to ensure her appearance”.
Earlier in the hearing, Bella’s godmother, Megan Fewtrell, yelled at Bond: “I hope you rot in hell!”
Photos of Bella posted on her mother’s Facebook page made it clear that she looked strikingly similar to the composite image.
More information is expected to be released after Ms Bond and Mr McCarthy appear in court.
Bella died in late May, a prosecutor said in court Monday.
Bond came in shortly after, and that is when she allegedly found her daughter dead.
McCarthy’s attorney, Jonathan Shapiro, did not contest the prosecutor’s request to hold McCarthy without bail. The girl’s head was swollen and her body was gray, she said. But when he showed up at Bond’s home, she put him off, saying their daughter was away on Cape Cod.
Bella was formerly known as “Baby Doe” – the name State Police gave to the little girl when her body washed ashore Deer Island in June.
“She was a demon anyway”.
After obtaining a search warrant, cops found several books about demons and demonology in the couple’s home. A criminal complaint says he called her a “cracked-out hooker”.
A week after the grisly finding, authorities released a computer-generated image of the child, using photographs of her remains.
According to prosecutors, McCarthy, who they say was a heroin user who believed in the supernatural, killed the girl in May after she refused to go to sleep and was misbehaving.
Do you think justice has been served for little Bella Bond?
Michael Sprinsky told police he twice saw Bond and McCarthy lock Bella in a closet for 30 minutes to an hour “while she screamed to be let out”, Deakin said.
The state Department of Children and Families has said it had two contacts with Bella in 2012 and 2013 for “support and neglect” issues, but the cases were closed.
According to the ADA, Bella’s body was kept in the refrigerator before being weighted down and dumped into the Harbor in South Boston. He told Boston.com that he and Bond planned to go to authorities.
Prosecutors and attorneys for McCarthy and Bond haven’t commented. By the time his daughter was born nine months later, Amoroso had already left the city and moved to Florida.
A dog walker discovered the toddler’s lifeless body along a rocky shoreline of Deer Island on June 25.
“She told police that she knew at that moment her daughter was dead”, Deakin said of Rachelle Bond.
Amoroso, though, was not charged with any crimes despite his decision not to inform authorities.
Amoroso said in media interviews over the weekend that Bond told him McCarthy killed their child because he believed she was possessed by demons. The hash blows led to Bella’s death.
Bond’s lawyer, Janice Bassil, requested a $250 bail amount and house arrest for her client, according to the Associated Press, which said that Bassil’s request “drew murmurs and snickers from people in the courtroom”.
