Baby found dead in Queens courtyard is a homicide, officials say

A newborn baby has died after falling four floors from a New York apartment.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, she said.

Police say he had severe head trauma.

Other children are living in the home where the baby lived, authorities say, but they’re not believed to be siblings; it’s thought to be an extended-living situation, city officials told NBC 4 New York. The mother and baby lived with several other people in the apartment, neighbors told Rivera.

No arrests have been made and the police investigation is ongoing. “Bad. It’s hard to believe, a baby that little”, said one woman who only gave her name as Eve.

A 911 caller heard a noise in the darkness, looked outside and saw the infant’s body, police sources said.
