Bac Duong — 1 of 3 escapees — has been caught — OC JAIL ESCAPE
Ravaghi was booked on suspicion of being an accessory to a felony, Hallock said.
Ravaghi’s expected to be asked to enter a plea in court on Monday.
Lt Hallock said “there was some type of relationship that developed between the two” which he described as close, but said he did not know if it was a romance.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has released these images – some showing gang tattoos – of Bac Duong, an inmate and murder suspect who escaped from jail in Santa Ana last week. But again she has denied bringing in any tools to this point. Police say Nooshafarin Ravaghi had been involved in some kind of relationship with escapee Hossein Nayeri. In the most recent case, prosecutors say he kidnapped and tortured a marijuana distributor with a blowtorch, before fleeing the United States to Iran, where he was born.
Ravaghi taught English As a Second Language classes at the prison.
Nayeri disappeared from the jail early January 22, along with Jonathan Tieu, 20, of Fountain Valley, and Bac Duong, 43, of Santa Ana. The license plate on the van is 8U66466, but Hallock said the plates may have been removed and replaced with yellow or green Felix Chevrolet paper plates. “Unfortunately, none have resulted in locating the escapees”.
Investigators are trying to determine what tools were used in the escape.
Hallock said the ongoing manhunt has led to about 10 arrests so far in connection with the escape, with several other arrests made in connection with unrelated arrest warrants or probation violations.
The trio escaped from the Santa Ana lockup sometime after 5 a.m., cutting through four layers of steel, metal and rebar as they moved through the jail’s plumbing tunnels and an air duct. Nayeri had been in custody since September 2014, Tieu since October 2013 and Duong since December.
This undated photo provided by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department shows Hossein Nayeri. During a Wednesday press conference, Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens said investigators were looking into the possibility that the inmates received help from someone on the outside as well as from anyone inside the facility.
Bartlett and Do will assure the Vietnamese community that any information provided to assist the investigation will be treated with confidentiality, according to Jean Pasco, Orange County’s manager of public information.
Authorities are offering a $200,000 reward for information leading to the fugitives’ capture.
Duong was originally being held without bond since last month on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and other charges.
All three inmates are accused of violent crimes but had not been convicted. “If you see one or more of them, they are to be considered risky and possibly armed- immediately call 9-1-1”.
