Back to ‘The River’: New Springsteen Box Set Coming For Holidays
He celebrated the 30th anniversary of the release of Born to Run in 2005 with a box set that included a concert DVD from Springsteen’s legendary 1975 Hammersmith Odeon performance in London.
The full 4CD/3DVD document features unreleased tracks, demos, rarities, live recordings and much more, telling the full tale of this ambitious album.

The set, coming December 4, is available for pre-order at Amazon, for 9.98. “The River: Single Album” is the initial ten track LP recording in 1979 as a follow up to “Darkness On The Edge Of Town”.
The previous year, Springsteen recorded a standard-length album but discarded it, explaining later that it “lacked the kind of unity and conceptual intensity I liked my music to have”.
Bruce Springsteen is one of those timeless, beloved artists who we just can’t seem to get enough of. Outtakes, spans the sessions from that era, showcasing never-before-released tracks and additional outtakes.
The New Jersey singer will also include a new 60-minute documentary entitled “The Ties That Bind“, in which he will detail the tumultuous writing and recording process behind the album. The third disc presents Springsteen’s show with the E Street Band from Tempe, Arizona on the 1980 River Tour, including over two and a half hours worth of footage and 24 songs.
