Backlash Over Star Wars: The Last Jedi is Important Says Rian Johnson

The backstory for Snoke could have been interesting, but he was summarily killed off and forgotten. When you’re really young, you tend to fall in love with characters. The Last Jedi brought all of this into focus when Rey and Kylo Ren established a connection so strong that they could converse with each other literally across galaxies as if they were just feet away.

This week several major-releases hit the box-office, all hoping to take down “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and capitalize on the holiday season. Adding icing to the cake, Rey ignores his final advances through the Force, with the Falcon’s door closing, displaying her refusal to join him. “We think we are going to have a long tailwind with this movie”. “It shows Luke’s commitment to his exile, as he destroyed his only means of leaving the planet.’ In the end, Rian Johnson chose designs more similar to Chiang’s initial painting of the sunken starfighter just off the coast of the island”.

It’s ok if you didn’t like Star Wars: The Last Jedi. That spot was reserved for Luke’s sister, Leia (Carrie Fisher). Sometimes, we even refuse to believe that the unexpected has occurred. Leia’s death could absolutely be included in that space. That’s what keeps people coming back to soap operas.

That’s assuming Kylo Ren was telling the truth, of course, so fingers crossed he’s not revealed as a liar in Episode IX. Poe is still hasty and reckless.

Another positive was the excellent character development, especially Skywalker and Ren. By all accounts, the passage of time would only breathe new life into what seems like a story that has stalled. The Last Jedi is a very different Star Wars movie. Important Says Rian Johnson

Aside from this unusual rant that has a point but is more spoof in nature than anything, The Last Jedi raises a lot of questions but it’s still something different enough that it’s taken the story in a different direction. In the original trilogy we got that. So, in a way, this would be the ideal way to wrap the series. Adams didn’t get the chance to see “Rogue One” while on her mission in southern Florida, but did buy unique Star Wars shirts for herself and her brother.
