Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls may unite for new tour
In an interview with Rolling Stone on Tuesday, Backstreet Boy AJ McLean discussed the rumors that his band was teaming up for a tour with the Spice Girls. The latest gossip is that the jaunt will be a co-headlining bill with fellow ’90s pop superstars Backstreet Boys!
“They were big but their success didn’t last quite as long”, Daily Star wrote.
Rumors of a joint tour began early a year ago, but the Backstreet Boys’ rep shot down such reports in March 2014.
“We’re going back in [to the studio] on the 12th to dust off the cobwebs”, McLean said.
Rumours that the Spice Girls are planning to reform have been circulating for a while, but in the latest turn of events, they’ll be joined by the boy band to boost their appeal in America (the ladies never really cracked it there). “As soon as there’s something to actually announce, I’ll be yelling it from the rooftops!” “This is just the beginning phase, but we’re hoping to have the album done before our cruise in May”.
“I don’t want to give away too much”.
Earlier this year it was reported that the Girls will definitely be reuniting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut single Wannabe – but without 41-year-old fashion designer Victoria.
“Scary Spice” – also known as Melanie Brown – told Ellen Degeneres in a 2013 interview on her talk show that she would “love to” go on a reunion tour “in the next year or two”.
