Bad Boys 3 and 4 and others get release dates
Sony has officially announced that they will be releasing Bad Boys 3 in February 2017 and Bad Boys 4 in July 2019.
The previous two “Bad Boys” films have grossed over $400 million worldwide.
Just before Christmas we have our favorite dinosaur-tamer Chris Pratt and our favorite mutant Jennifer Lawrence in the sci-fi movie, “Passengers“, out on December 21. Fellow remake The Magnificent Seven will open months earlier on September 23, 2016 with Antoine Fuqua directing Denzel Washington.
2017 sees the release of a whole host of big movies: “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” on January 27, Edgar Wright’s “Baby Driver” on March 17, “Barbie” (June 2), video game adaptation of “Uncharted” (June 30), and “The Lamb” (Dec. 8). Also, Resident Evil 6 is coming in January 2017. It’s true that the guy doesn’t have an wonderful history with intellectual properties (the A-Team movie didn’t exactly work out as well as expected), but films like The Grey and Narc have shown him to be a very capable and potentially exciting filmmaker. This is sort of the great hope for genre fans, as King’s beloved story spans eight books written over thirty years. So good luck and courage for trying.
We can all agree that the trio created an epic success in the first and second movies, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest. You’ll also notice that Sony executives tend to say “brah” a lot more often than other executives. Will any of them put the embattled studio back in the headlines for the right reasons, or at least help it stop the bad luck temporarily? Sony was never an all franchises, all the time studio, but now it has to define itself in the new tentpole era.
