Bad idea! Man drives over fire in van carrying ammo
However, this wasn’t a few sort of terrorist auto bomb gone awry.
A Clay County, Mo., man was burning garbage on his property around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday near Highway 210 and Bluff Road when the garbage fire grew out of control. Since he didn’t want to import the wildfires raging on the West coast to Kansas, he decided he needed to put it out quickly. He drove his van back and forth over the fire to try and extinguish it, however his tires soon caught on fire. When he realized this, the driver bailed out and ran away from the vehicle.
According to the Kansas City Star, to make a awful idea even more catastrophic, the van had a full tank of gas and was packed with ammunition.
A crew from the Liberty Fire Department responded to make sure the fire did not spread.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post a deputy investigating smoke in a field south of Liberty discovered a van “fully engulfed in flames”.
Sheriff’s spokesman Jon Bazzano said the owner was not immediately cited and he declined to file a report for a possible insurance claim.
We’d say that is a very accurate statement.
