Bad Weather suspends Amarnath Yatra

The Army opened its transit camp at Sonamarg for civilians who had been evacuated from these areas besides pressing into operation 11 mobile teams to provide food and medical supply to the needy.
Owing to the heavy downpour, there were landslides in Sonamarg area but the civilians were shifted by the army in transit camps. “We have recovered the dead bodies and the search is on for any missing”, said Police spokesperson. The deceased was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh.
The official said two more residents of Kullan village were missing and two labourers from Gangangeer could not be traced as the army launched a relief operation to clear the national highway.
On Thursday evening a cloudburst had also hit a base camp at Sheeshnag, however, no casualty was reported.
Amid fresh clouds hovering above Kashmir, the Meteorological Department have advised people that there is no need of panic as possibility of heavy rainfall has nearly dissipated.
