Badgers men’s basketball: Nigel Hayes, Bronson Koenig on preseason watch lists
Morris, a junior, is listed for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation’s best point guard.
Arcidiacono and Brunson are the only pair of teammates on the Cousy watch list among the 20 early candidates for the honor.
It’s award watch list season in college basketball, and a few Big 5 players are getting their names mentioned on a national stage. The Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Watch List will be announced on Friday. In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The victor will be named at ESPN’s College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles on April 8.
Hayes previously was named a preseason All-American by the Sporting News. Like McKay, Morris also was named preseason All-Big 12 honorable mention.
Like the Karl Malone Award, this is the second year of the Julius Erving Award.
Koenig started the final 24 games a year ago.
This past summer, Lo represented Germany at the 2015 University Games and EuroBasket, in his hometown of Berlin. He was a finalist for the honor last season while averaging 15.3 points and earning All-America accolades.
Mykhailiuk started six games last season for Kansas and averaged 11.2 minutes and 2.8 points per contest.
