Badgers to face USC in Holiday Bowl (AUDIO)
“We are thrilled to be able to go back to the Holiday Bowl and play an outstanding Big Ten team like Wisconsin”.
The USC Football team will return to the Holiday Bowl on December 30th to face No. 23 Wisconsin at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
Madison says this is the first matchup since 1966.
USC (8-5) won the Pac-10 South Division before losing to Stanford 41-24 in the conference championship game Saturday night. The 8-5 Trojans are unranked in the AP Poll, but are No. 25 in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings.
Chryst calls the Holiday Bowl a “big-time bowl” in which the Badgers will take part for the first time.
The two schools have met six times previously, including twice in the Rose Bowl.
The Trojans will be making their second consecutive appearance in the game.
The Alamo Bowl selected OR and the Holiday Bowl picked USC, even though the Trojans played in the game a year ago, defeating Nebraska, 45-42.
But the Holiday Bowl probably did not mind taking USC because the Badgers will bring plenty of fans and USC is a popular team on TV.
