Bag stuffed with $900k in cash lost by Hong Kong airport staff
A bag with $1 million cash inside on its way from New Zealand to Hong Kong has reportedly been lost by aviation staff.
A bag containing NZD$1 million is missing after it was lost during transportation inside an airport last week.
The website says the bags, labelled “G4S International”, were being delivered to the Bank of China with a luggage box through the cargo transfer service provided by Cathay Pacific’s subsidiary, Hong Kong Airport Services.
Shanghaiist reports Hong Kong airport surveillance footage shows three bags fell from a trailer while the bags were being transferred between planes.
There was only a driver on board, and no security guard.
It was ten minutes before the driver realised the bags were missing.
Police searched overnight, but could not find the missing money, and it has been reported as a theft.

Upon arrival, it was transferred to a cargo terminal where part of the shipment was found to be missing.
The money was insured, the company said.
In a statement, the firm said that area was the exclusive responsibility of the airport’s authorities.
She said: “This loss occurred within the controlled airside sector of HKIA – a restricted area that we are not allowed access to. As the case is under police investigation, we are unable to provide further details”.
“G4Si is working hard to understand the chain of events that led to this loss”, she said.
