Bahrain says 2 troops in Yemen coalition killed in Saudi
Since March Saudi Arabia has led a military campaign against Iran-backed Houthi rebels and loyalists to ex-president Saleh.
Saudi Arabia said it intercepted a Scud ballistic missile fired from Yemen on Saturday, according to a statement on the Saudi state news agency SPA, an attack which threatens a fragile ceasefire ahead of renewed U.N.-backed peace talks next month.
Earlier this year, the United Arab Emirates secretly dispatched almost some 300 Colombian mercenaries to Yemen.
The source said five soldiers were killed and another five were injured in the Katyusha rocket attack.
Saudi Armed Forces intercepted a missile launched from the Yemeni territory in the direction of the southern Saudi city of Najran, local media reported Sunday.
Last week, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, special envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen, announced the end of the latest peace talks on Yemen, saying that the parties agreed on framework for the negotiations and will meet again on January 14 for a new round of talks.
Yemen has been under military attacks by Saudi Arabia since late March.
Riyadh launched the military aggression in a bid to undermine the popular Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh. The strikes have also taken a heavy toll on the impoverished country’s facilities and infrastructure, destroying many hospitals, schools, and factories.
