Baker Mayfield believed Jets wanted to draft him, according to agent

The 2018 NFL Draft began last Thursday and wrapped up on Saturday, giving a look into the world of professional football for the coming season. The attitude of this team is changing brick by brick, player by player.

“Are you going to be upset if you trade back and don’t get the guy you really like, that you feel can really help your football team?”

According to Mayfield’s agent, the New England Patriots were at least pondering the possibility of trading up to the No. 2 overall pick if the Heisman Trophy winning QB had still be on the board.

Mayfield’s agent said on a podcast that they were told that the Patriots would consider moving up to the second pick.

The Bills did trade into the top 10, getting the Buccaneers’ No. 7 pick and using it to take Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen. One of those people, UCLA’s Josh Rosen, was passed up and some of the reasoning behind it makes next to no sense. “They liked him and [Browns general manager John] Dorsey never contacted us”.

That’s where things could have gotten interesting and the Giants could have traded out of the pick. We’ll let it go.
