Ballard HS student arrested after seen with firearm, school secured

Officials are investigating a police cruiser involved crash in West Miami-Dade that left one officer injured.

The teen was later taken into custody at Miami Jackson for being in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm firearm.

A Ballard High School student was arrested off campus after reportedly being seen with a firearm, Seattle Public Schools confirmed on Thursday. However, “out of an abundance of caution”, police locked down the school and conducted the search.

Police responded to the restaurant nearby the school, located the student and took him into custody.
