Ballon d’Or is reserved for Messi – Neymar
Barcelona forward Neymar believes that Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and himself have proven critics wrong by forging an understanding in the club’s front line.
Past year Neymar helped Barcelona become the first side in European history to claim a second treble, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
Messi’s great rival Cristiano Ronaldo now holds football’s top individual playing prize.
A number of former players and pundits questioned Barcelona’s decision to bring in Suarez after the 2014 World Cup as they felt the Uruguay worldwide did not fit the Catalans’ style and could not play in the same team as Neymar and Messi.
“We haven’t discussed anything with Neymar yet, neither is there anything official on the table, nor has there been any formal conversations”, Mestre told Mundo Deportivo.
“I think we surprised everyone”. And if I learn a lot then maybe one day I can win. “I have three more years left on my contract, and my father looks after these things”.
With Messi now sidelined with a knee ligament injury, Neymar insists he is ready to handle the pressure of becoming Barca’s focal point in attack. “I hope to do my work, to help my teammates with goals, to keep progressing. His injury is delicate but he looks good to me and very happy with his recovery”.
“The challenge doesn’t scare me at all, even though I know it is hard”.
The debate as to which of the two stars is actually the best player in the world has been raging for the past few years, with many in the Real camp feeling that the Portugal worldwide does more throughout a game than his Argentina counterpart.
