The Stone Temple Pilots came on the scene at the height of the grunge movement, releasing its first album, “Core“, in 1992. “Plush”, the hit that made million of people rock, won a Grammy Award, and they sold 40 million records worldwide, as well.
Meanwhile as more musicians and personalities speak out on the tragic death of Weiland, both band’s in which Weiland was most famous for, STP and Velvet Revolver, have each released group statements.
Arrested was the band’s bassist, Tommy Black, who was charged with felony drug possession.
“After that, Weiland became a part of supergroup Velvet Revolver with former members of Guns N” Roses including Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum.
Weiland and the Wildabouts played Adelaide Hall in Toronto on Tuesday, the most recent date before a planned show in Medina, Minn., on Thursday.
Tributes from the music world have been pouring in as well, including Dave Navarro, Nikki Sixx and Jack Osbourne.
Scott Weiland, the former frontman of the band Stone Temple Pilots, is dead at age 48.
Although Weiland has had a long history of battling substance abuse, it’s not clear at this moment what caused his death. Scott Weiland spent most of the 1990s through the mid-2000s in bands that dominated the rock music scene. Back then, Weiland talked about why he got back into the band.
“We experienced a good chunk of life with Scott and, even in his darkest times, we all had hope and love for him”, they wrote. “I mean, I’m 48 years old”, Weiland said about touring in what might possibly be one of his last interviews.
“If you look up the definition of a rockstar, Scott Weiland would fit that mold”, said Cody Winther, co-owner of Spicoli’s. After their divorce, he was married to the model Mary Forsberg from 2000 to 2007; the couple have two children, Noah and Lucy.
