Bangalore Leads in Flipkart Big Billion Sales Thursday
The sale that started on October 13 will continue till October 17, with a new category being introduced every day.
“Flipkart is the number one marketplace for mobile phones if you look at online, offline, everything”. In the first 10 hours, 75% of the phones sold were of 4G, it said.
This time, Flipkart has added to users’ frustration by refusing to give details of the offers easily on its website and instead goading browsers to use their phones instead.
Apart from Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai led in terms of the volumes, while the second-tier cities like Nagpur, Indore, Coimbatore, Vishakhapatnam and Jaipur joined the lead in mobile phone sales online.
Sales were driven by attractive exchange offers and easy EMI options.
The exchange offers put out by Flipkart also saw great customer interest as 25 percent of the buyers used this opportunity to upgrade to a new phone.
The Bengaluru-based firm said the platform also saw huge sales of 4G-enabled devices. It was announced earlier that the sale will be for 5 days and each day is specialised with heavy discount in a particular category like today on 15th October there is a huge sale and discount on mobiles and accessories. “The half a million mobile handsets sale record is truly a testament to the growing demand for smartphones in India”, Mukesh Bansal, Head of Commerce Platform, Flipkart said.
