Bangor and Swansea universities top list for student satisfaction, report shows
Prof Rimmer said: “To get 100 per cent satisfaction has to be a surprise, that every one of around 400 students are totally happy with the course is remarkable”.
This year’s National Student Survey (NSS) questioned students on how satisfied they are with the quality of their higher education course.
Campus-based universities also scored well, with Dundee and Glasgow scoring an impressive 90 per cent overall satisfaction, well above the UK sector average of 86 per cent.
Undergraduate satisfaction has remained steady despite the introduction of £9,000 tuition fees in England.
Elsewhere, Glyndwr scored 80% while University of South Wales and Trinity St David both had 79% satisfaction.
Of the remainder, 7% were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with their higher education experience, 5% were dissatisfied and 2% strongly dissatisfied.
“This year, in partnership with our students, all departments will be using the NSS data, along with other sources of student feedback, to create an Enhancement Plan that will address various aspects of our provision”. It is testament to the hard work of university staff. Universities are responding to student feedback and seeking to improve the teaching and learning experience.
“The shift in England from public funding to increased fees means that students are understandably, and rightly, demanding more from their university courses”.
The NSS ranks Harper Adams as the 4th best university in the UK for students receiving sufficient advice and support with their studies, and providing good advice when needed to make their study choices.
When the results are narrowed down to students completing their first degrees, the overall satisfaction rating is 94 per cent.
According to HEFCE, the results of the survey, conducted by Ipsos MORI on behalf of UK funding bodies, provides valuable information for prospective students, and help universities and colleges to further improve the education they provide.
The university received an 89% satisfaction score in the newly published National Student Survey.
“We are working together with the University to invest in our facilities and services and we are excited that in the past year more students than ever before have joined our societies, taken part in sport clubs, volunteered through our vTeam and participated in our events”.
