Barb from ‘Stranger Things’ Speaks
After the sci-fi/horror hit was renewed for a second season last week, Stranger Things executive producer Dan Cohen has promised upcoming episodes will be “expanding the world” introduced in the first eight instalments.
Here’s everything we know so far, including season one spoilers.
It’s a sign of Stranger Things’ popularity that NBC’s The Tonight Show recently ran a parody skit about the return of Barb, one of the minor characters from the series who struck a chord with the show’s fans.
Cohen explained that while there’s a temptation to exploit the options open to them, they recognize that much of the appeal of “Stranger Things” is the “unknown quotient” of the actors, the plot, and the premise. Barb’s passing enraged fans, as it seemed like her disappearance wasn’t given enough attention by the town, her family or her friends, even Nancy. But in the season finale, it was clear that Barb had perished, and it wasn’t brought up again.
“It was totally unexpected”, she said. “She said that I was her favorite character and Abbi Jacobson, from ‘Broad City”, loved the show, and Stephen King.it’s insane”. “And her name is Shannon Purser”. Did she die when she seemingly disintegrated along with the monster from the Upside Down?
“I hadn’t watched any of her movies, but I knew she was like a big actress and when I met her, I knew she was just really nice because she was always looking out for me”, said Schnapp, who played Ryder’s son in the show.
Casting has already begun for three new main characters to join season two.
