Barbra Streisand calls Apple CEO to fix name pronunciation
Yet, there was the 74-year old star in front of an NPR microphone on Saturday, telling a radio audience that iOS 10 is launching on September 30th.
How pissed off do you get if Android’s Google Now or iOS’s Siri mispronounces your name? The entertain said she has been saying her last name like that for her “whole career”.
“And so what did I do?”
“May I ask a question of my iPhone while you’re with us?” she asked Streisand, to which she agreed.
Memories… light the corners of AI… misty programmed memories… of how to say my name…
However, the popular singer and songwriter Barbra Streisand has dropped a big hint that the new OS might arrive on September 30. Apparently, the Google-operated program Siri didn’t get the joke, as the program has been pronouncing the second “s” in “Streisand” as a “z” for quite some time. She called Apple CEO Tim Cook on the phone.
The singer and Broadway star is now on tour with an album of duets with other actors called Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway. But if it will be based on Streisand’s statement, the release date for the next iPhones would most likely to be delayed.
Duet partners include Anne Hathaway, Daisey Ridley, Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Jamie Foxx, Melissa McCarthy, Antonio Banderas, Hugh Jackman and others – but not Siri.
We will go on a limb here and speculate that Apple told Streisand that the update should be live before September ends. Before you start circling your calendar, we have to note that there is an issue with this date. And like so many, she is a legend in her own mind as well.
Streisand is excitedly expecting the change, as having her named recognized and pronounced correctly is understandably very important to her.
