Barcelona boss Enrique hints Man Utd target Pedro will leave
Following Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup triumph, Pedro denied wanting to leave the Camp Nou, but admitted to being “very angry” at not starting against Sevilla, per TV3 (h/t Toni Juanmarti of Spanish newspaper Sport). Messi had himself scored a double with two early free-kicks following Ever Banega’s opener for Sevilla.
However, Jose Antonio Reyes reduced the arrears before a Kevin Gameiro penalty and a debut strike from Yevhen Konoplyanka forced the game into an extra 30 minutes.
What it turned out to be was a thrilling UEFA Super Cup game between the Champions League winners Barcelona and Europa Cup winners Sevilla.
“If anyone can turn this result around then it is Barca and if not we will still try with all we’ve got”, he said.
The Spaniard found hard to force his way into the first team, as the trident of Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi did exceptionally well last season.
And on Tuesday, despite Neymar out with mumps, Barca coach Luis Enrique preferred Rafinha in his position.
“Sevilla played a very complete match“, he told the club’s website.
“Whether I go or stay, I’ll always be with this team”. In the 115th minute, Pedro Rodriguez Barcelona‘s fifth goal.
“The response is no, I don’t want to go, but it is a complicated situation for a lot of reasons”.
Amid the celebrations following Pedro’s victor, it was confirmed that he is determined to bring down the curtain on his Barcelona career, as he looks to seal a £22m move to Old Trafford. “It’s a tricky one but I see him in good form, just as he has been all pre-season”. They will come to dominate and fight for possession.
However, Pedro added even more mystery to his future after posting a photo to his twitter account, thanking Barcelona for giving him yet another title and urged his teammates to continue enjoying their success.
That took the match into extra-time and though Barcelona dominated it wasn’t until 116 minutes that Pedro scored the decisive goal, the substitute steering the ball into the top of the Sevilla net from the edge of the six-yard box.
“He has all the ability you would expect from a player who has been at Barcelona for so many years, but also he has a great work ethic”.
