Barcelona defender Gerard Pique rules out Manchester City move
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has ruled out a reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City this summer, but hinted he could move away from the Camp Nou in the near future.
When Guardiola arrives at the Etihad this summer, he is expected to move in the transfer market to strengthen a City defence which has proven vulnerable on occasions this season.
Kolo Toure says that his brother Yaya wants to play under incoming manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
One player who insists he will not be re-joining his former Barcelona boss though is ex-United defender Pique, who admits he wants to play overseas again before the end of his career but has no intention of representing the blue half of Manchester.
Pique had moved to United in 2004 when he was still a teenager and played under Sir Alex Ferguson for four seasons, mainly in the reserves. He returned to Barcelona in 2008 for a 5 million pound fee, which is a pittance considering his contributions to the team over the years.
And Eriksson – who led City in 2007-08 before they were bought out by Abu Dhabi United Group – feels for Pellegrini after the Chilean delivered a third trophy to the club via Sunday’s League Cup win over Liverpool.
And as if this wasn’t good enough for City’s once-success-starved supporters, he’s managed to put the club in such a healthy position while handling the Pep Guardiola rumours like an absolute gent.
“He likes Barcelona very much, he’s in love with the club and I think he’ll stay here for many years”. Maybe America, but no-one knows what will happen in the future.
