Barnes & Noble debut Samsung Galaxy Tab E NOOK
Barnes & Noble introduced a new Nook tablet this morning, the Samsung-produced Galaxy Tab E Nook.
The new reader-focused tablet features an LCD TFT 9.6-inch display with 12800 x 800 resolution. But instead of completely throwing in the towel on their Nook tablets, they made a decision to work with Samsung and rebrand a few of their Galaxy Tabs as Nook tablets.
The companies on Wednesday expanded their co-branded tablet lineup with the 9.6-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab E Nook. Its battery capacity is 5000mAh, with a 5MP primary camera, and a 2MP front-facing shooter. It also comes with a microSD card slot, along with Microsoft Office pre-installed. Considering the specs of the Galaxy Tab E Nook, many customers may find the price a bit high. The device has also added benefit of color and a crisp resolution, the combination of which better suits comic books and magazines. This program allows you to get up to $200 in credit towards the purchase of a Galaxy Tab E Nook Tablet. Last month, Samsung and Barnes and Noble presented a slightly smaller and more expensive Galaxy S2 Nook based on the Galaxy S2 tablet released earlier this year. Other features include Nook Profiles, so you can share it with family members and everyone can access their own content and recommendations with a tap of the screen, and Samsung’s Multi-Window for running two apps simultaneously.
The Galaxy Tab E Nook retails for US$249 or roughly AU$346, and it is available from the online B&N store as well as brick and mortar branches across the US.
The tablet, which is 0.33 inches thick and weighs 1.2 pounds, also comes with an offer of three free Nook Books and three free Nook magazines from a range of titles, plus a $5 starter credit and free lifetime in-store support.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz will power the Galaxy Tab E Nook. The trade-in promotion will be valid until November. 7.
