Basketball legend Magic Johnson supports HIV positive Charlie Sheen
The announcement set off a tidal wave of outrage from former sex partners of Sheen’s who say that he never disclosed his illness, thus putting their lives at risk.
She said: “I was surprised how much that affected me work wise…I was perceived as being a lunatic and insane”. How many people are so terrified of the stigma surrounding “those three letters” that they can’t even bring themselves to get tested in the first place?
“What people forget is that’s money they’re taking from my children”.
‘My partying days are behind me. I had to learn with the rest of the world, Charlie, that you contracted the HIV virus the same year we were with one another.
The 50-year-old says he told people he thought he could trust about his status, but as news spread he paid off people who threatened to go to media with the news. However, he said that he was more concerned about Sheen’s history of substance abuse and depression and how those things could negatively affect his HIV treatment.
Sheen was also asked why he kept inviting “these unsavoury types” over to his home and making the same mistake over and over again. “Because I was depressed, I was doing a lot of drugs”. He was a former bad boy, I guess. The Charlie I knew was kind, warm, loving, funny, intelligent and generous.
But while his secret is out, his troubles are far from over.
Asked by Lauer if he expected “a barrage of lawsuits” from past sexual partners alleging he infected them, Sheen answered, “I’m sure that’s next”.
That claim was disputed by Bree Olson, who was living with Sheen in 2011 as one of his two “goddesses”. Martin said that although he was a continent away, he was supporting his son.
Parker said Sheen’s claim that he is very unlikely to transmit HIV to someone else because therapy has made his virus undetectable could very well be true.
Dr. Saul, the chief of infectious diseases at Bridgeport Hospital, said he hopes actor Charlie Sheen’s revelation on the “Today” show will raise awareness for HIV/AIDS just like when National Basketball Association star Earvin “Magic” Johnson announced he was HIV-positive in 1991.
“I am in fact HIV-positive”. The actor said he had “always led with condoms and honesty when it came to my condition”.
