Battlefield 5 Could be a World War 1 Shooter…
While this is a not an official declaration of the game’s setting, the retail store also said the game would be released on October 26 of this year. According to the retailer’s website, Battlefield 5 genre is “Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1”.
History lesson aside, before anyone gets excited about a new World War I video game or Battlefield 5 in general, let’s reiterate that this is just a rumor, and listings have certainly been inaccurate before. This trilogy went on to be confirmed and revealed by Sony as the Nathan Drake Collection.
Obviously, this listing should be taken with a pinch of salt until EA officially confirms the next Battlefield game, likely during E3 in June.
What are your thoughts on this, especially seeing as how World War 1 hasn’t been explored much in the FPS space? After almost perfecting their gameplay systems in WW2, it was an easy transition into modern warfare, all the way to Star Wars, as we see in Battlefront’s roots in the most basic FPS gameplay.
Battlefield 5 is one of the worst kept secrets in the video game industry.
In the past Battlefield titles have been largely military inspired, save for last year’s Battlefield Hardline that introduced a more urban setting and kind of put players in the role of police and robber, but what about this year? As people fatigue on that, someone was bound to head back to the past for inspiration, and World War I is chock full of things for them to play around with.
