Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola to manage Manchester City next season
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is adamant the Bundesliga champions will not allow any key players to leave at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola declined to speak to the media on Friday as speculation around a potential move to Manchester City increases.
‘Guardiola has decided on a change of scenery, ‘ the report read. After the Hannover game on December 19, talks will take place and then we will announce the result.
The Spanish manager is in the final season of a three year contract with Bayern Munich.
“There is no person in this world who can’t be replaced at some point”. That’s the state of things.
“I would love to sign a new contract with Bayern if the people in charge are interested in keeping me here”, Javi said in an interview with Sport Bild (translated by Goal.com).
Guardiola has always been open to coaching in England, but past reports have claimed that he’d have preferred to manage at United over City due to their rich history of success. Players come and go.
Captain Philipp Lahm said earlier this week: “If Guardiola leaves one day, for sure another excellent coach will come along, but first we have to see what happens”.
Former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is rumoured to be the favourite to take over should Guardiola leave. The pair worked together at Barcelona along with Ferran Soriano, who is now chief executive at the Etihad.
With Rummenigge already telling reporters everyone is replaceable and Guardiola skipping press conferences and not committing himself to the project, it seems likely the Bavarians will have to start looking for another manager very soon.
