Bayern’s Vidal wanted to meet Juve in final
Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola will announce whether he will continue coaching Bayern Munich next season in a week’s time.
Pep Guardiola has apparently told his old colleague Txiki Begristain that he will make Alexis Sanchez his first incoming player when he takes over the reigns at Manchester City.
The 44-year-old former Barcelona coach has been strongly linked with Barclays Premier League club Manchester City, whose interest will be piqued by the anticipated announcement from Bavaria.
Speaking after Bayern’s German Cup win over Darmstadt, Guardiola stated he did not know his future plans, declaring: “Tonight, I have no answer”.
“I am very curious”, said Bayern and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. “Next week, you will know the answer”.
Hunter was quoted saying by the BBC: “If the cards fall his way, his wish is to sample life at Manchester United for a variety of reasons”.
Earlier today it was reported that Zinedine Zidane is set to take over from Rafa Benitez at Real Madrid.
The Spanish publication believes that Guardiola informed Bayern of his intentions last week, leading to them scrambling for a replacement.
He has won the Bundesliga in both seasons with Bayern Munich, as well as twice winning the Champions League while at the Camp Nou.
Guardiola joined Bayern in the summer of 2013 after spending four year in Barcelona and one year out with a sabbatical.
He said the squad is looking forward to the winter break which starts on Sunday and lasts until Friday January 22, when Bayern are at Hamburg.
The German magazine Kicker wrote Guardiola’s decision is “an open secret” in European football circles, and said the Marca report was “well-founded”.
Guardiola is wary of the Bianconeri’s quality, acknowledging they have a “great mentality”.
‘He always joked the day I stopped being his assistant he’d have to pack it all in and retire. As for Bayern, they will have Carlo Ancelotti who is one of the best managers available.
