Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham out for season with broken ankle
So in comes Johnson as he looks to play the role of Cardale Jones from past year when the Ohio State Buckeyes’ third-string quarterback entered the lineup when J.T. Barrett was injured in the season finale and helped guide the Buckeyes to the national championship.
Baylor Bears quarterback Jarrett Stidham is out for the remainder of the regular season with a broken bone in his right ankle, according to a report by ESPN’s Max Olson.
Chip Brown of Scout first reported that Stidham would miss the rest of the season. The Horned Frogs are also dealing with a plethora of injuries, including at quarterback as well.
Stidham took over for the injured Seth Russell, who was sidelined after next surgery.
In three games started, Stidham, a true freshman, has thrown for 1,265 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions, while completing 68.8 percent of his passes. The sophomore threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 42 yards and a score as he filled in for Stidham in the second half against Oklahoma State.
The line for that Baylor-TCU game for Friday night is now off the board. Ranked No. 7 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, Baylor faces TCU on Friday, and could still claim a Big 12 championship with a win and an Oklahoma loss at Oklahoma State.
Stidham appeared in all 10 games this season for Baylor, starting the last three.
