BC fails badly at end; loses to Wake Forest 3-0
The game ended with Boston College unable to get a play off at the Wake Forest one-yard-line, the Eagles attempting to spike the ball but doing it a fraction of a second too late.
Running back Tyler Rouse had run into the line on a play that started with 14 seconds left. This week, they’ll be traveling north to take on the Boston College Eagles (3-2, 0-2), who is coming off a 9-7 loss at Duke.
While redshirt freshman Troy Flutie made his third consecutive start, true freshman Jeff Smith finished the game. The Eagles could not set up to run another play in time, and thus suffered a heartbreaking 3-0 loss to the Deacons at Alumni Stadium. Asked if he expects to settle on one quarterback for the remainder of the season, Addazio said, “That’s one I’m going to take a real long, hard look at tonight and tomorrow, not that I thought it had anything to do with anything, to be honest with you”.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Boston College missed eight extra points a year ago – one in the Pinstripe Bowl, which the Eagles lost 31-30 to Penn State.
Early in the third, Chubb recovered Jordan Gowins’ fumble at the Eagles 5. “Because I think BC attracts those players with the same blue-collar work ethic and personality.”…
The play did fail – and so did the Eagles’ strategy. After losing two yards, the Demon Deacons settled for Weaver’s decisive field goal. But Wake Forest showed why it has a top 20 defense itself and finally was able to generate a few turnovers. The Eagles hit the road for their next two games – Saturday night at Clemson and at Louisville October. 24.
