BCPD: Man shoots would-be Craigslist robbers
The recording is of Jon Vanderwiel calling 911 after he and his father had gone to Battle Creek to check out a vehicle they had seen advertised on Craigslist.
Blocker said the son, who has a license to carry a concealed firearm, pulled out the revolver and fired at least two shots.
Police said the two were attacked by three young men when they arrived at an address in the 600 block of Linwood Avenue, where they expected to close the deal on the vehicle.

Police later found one wounded suspect in the 100 block of Broadway Boulevard, about a mile south of the original incident. 19-year-old Torry Pesche and 23-year-old Christian Logan are both still recovering from the gunshot wounds that forced them to flee the scene of the ambush empty handed. They were taken by ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Blocker said police are unsure whether the attackers were armed.
The third attacker was not found and police are continuing their search.
According to the Battle Creek Police Department, a father and son from Grand Rapids drove to Battle Creek on Tuesday evening after arranging on Craigslist to buy a auto .
Meantime, he said, police want everyone to make good decisions when dealing with strangers they meet online.
Palmer said the prosecutor will review the case to determine charges.
