Be Ready for ‘Srinagar Million March’: Geelani tells People
Geelani, who is under house detention, Friday sent invitation letters to all the top separatist leadership in which they have been invited to take part in the scheduled march.
The octogenarian Hurriyat leader said, “we had not taken any harsh step by announcing the proposed million march but we had adopted purely a democratic way with which we want to show to the world that what the Kashmiris really want and to whom they actually support?” The outfit is planning to hold the rally at the Tourist Reception Centre ground in Srinagar which is close to the spot where Modi is expected to address a gathering.
However, Akbar said the Hurriyat will give “written assurance” to the state administration that the “Million March” will remain peaceful, “We will seek permission from the district administration and we are ready to give a written assurance that the march will remain peaceful”.
The Prime Minister will first inaugurate Phase-II of the Baghlihar hydro-electric power project in the Jammu region and then land in Srinagar to address a rally for which the alliance partners are busy making preparations. The event will not create any law and order problem.
Besides these rallies, the Prime Minister will also dedicate the much awaited power project to the people, he said.
The spokesman noted that both the public rallies will decide that how many people are with India and how many support the freedom struggle. He said that history was witnessed that the authorities deceived the people of Kashmir through their hollow slogans including relief packages, employment, roads and development works. “Our (parallel) rally will be a message to India to read a writing on wall as it will see whether PM’s rally will have large number of people or the rally of Geelani Sahab”, said Akbar.
Meanwhile the Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday ordered that nine departments would set up camp offices in civil secretariat, Srinagar to coordinate the arrangements for the visit of the Prime Minister.
