Bear ignores woman who tells it not to eat her kayak
OK, OK, we get Mary Maley would have been stranded in Berg Bay, Alaska, had the vessel been destroyed, but maybe she should have thought about that before she pepper sprayed the black bear.
Mary Maley uploaded a video Tuesday highlighting the incident. “I’m going to pepper spray you in the face”, she says to the bear.
Her pleading made have made her the blunt of jokes on the internet-and made her video go viral-but we can totally understand her panic.
Maley follows through on the threat and the bear backs off – and turns back toward her kayak.
“Bear! Bear! Why are you breaking my kayak?” It’s the end of September, why are you here? To no one’s surprise, the bear seems unimpressed with her hibernation facts and continues playing with her boat.
But she gets more exasperated as the bear paws the kayak. “Go away! Get away from that kayak!” “It doesn’t even taste good”, Maley yells.
“Why are you doing that?” she shouts, trying to reason with the fluffy mass of muscle, teeth, and claws as it bats around her kayak like a chunk of polystyrene.
“Bear, stop that. Bear, stop that”. Perhaps it’s thinking, “Lady, have you ever considered my name may not be “Bear”??” According to the woman, the bear continued to gnaw on the kayak for about 10 minutes after the video ended. Instead, she swam out to a sailboat anchored in the bay.
