Bear strolls through Montana high school, becomes media sensation
A Bozeman, Montana high school got a big shock today when students, teachers and staff saw a bear roaming the building hallways.
The bear then entered the main building through an open garage door, where it proceeded to sniff around the hallway and make attempts to scale and open lockers.
Students seemed excited about the news, tweeting memes about the new addition to their school. Bozeman Police Department officer Rick Musson added that they were able to coax the bear into a clearing with trees and bushes. “They were keeping a good, safe distance”, Conwell said.
As human development encroaches on wildlife’s habitats, encounters with wild animals – including bears – are on the increase, according to National Geographic. There were no up-close personal interactions with the bear, he said.
The bear appeared calm and unaffected as it strolled through the halls of the high school. Nice try, bears, but that won’t cut it. The bear was chased outside, but bear’s status is unknown at this time. In many cases, nuisance bears are killed or trapped and moved away from an area in the hopes that they won’t return.
We will keep you updated. Open compost piles with kitchen scraps are irresistible to bears.
