Bears book meetings with QBs DeShone Kizer, Mitch Trubisky, more

No one is lauding this group of quarterbacks. Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder and Thad Lewis – San Francisco’s other quarterbacks last season – are all unsigned.

Kizer, however, has at least one fan. The Cleveland Browns have also been active in researching Kizer’s potential fit as the No. 1 overall pick.

The most glowing review came about Kizer, whom the 49ers interviewed on Wednesday night. Which means, to borrow general manager John Lynch’s earlier expression, Kizer “blew the doors off” it.

Kizer’s honesty will be refreshing to teams, and he’s well aware of that knock, referencing the 4-8 record twice in his media session, but it hasn’t impacted the confidence of PFW’s top-ranked quarterback.

Kyle Shanahan, the architect of the Atlanta Falcons’ high-octane offense, is San Francisco’s newly hired head coach.

Kizer indicated he’s turned off social media and declined marketing deals because he wants to focus on his draft preparations. “He’s an impressive young man, and his film is very impressive”.

“I’m pretty comfortable opening up and expressing who I am as a guy and how I plan going about this process”, Kizer said. “I look forward to throwing in front of him Saturday and trying to impress him there”. “It’s my job at Notre Dame to put us in a position to win games, to trust the guys around me and develop the guys around me to make the plays with me”. He explained that his very bad 2016 season gave him a better understanding of, and appreciation for, the winning years that preceded it. And while Kizer took responsibility for last season’s Irish slide, he conceded that Stanley and Fuller proved to be irreplaceable previous year.

“At the end of the day, winning solves everything”, Watson said.

“You understand what it takes to be a victor”. Or, if you don’t like him, you say, well, it’s never going to happen.

Watson led Clemson to the national championship, but he threw 17 interceptions in 15 games.

North Carolina QB Mitch Trubisky: “I got a note today from somebody that he measured over 6-foot-2, and so he made himself some money today I promise you”. Webb said he’s met with “a ton of teams” and preferred keeping their identities private.

So I love his physical traits.

“I don’t know yet”, Kizer told reporters Friday in a press conference when asked when he might return to the platforms. “I’ll continue to do that”. He said his successful 2015 campaign for the Fighting Irish was akin to Dak Prescott’s rookie season with the Dallas Cowboys. “How are they going to handle pressure?” “They had a tough previous year, but I feel I could fit them, too”. They’ve indicated the team has so many needs that it’s important to take the best player available and not force the pick for a passer. That was totally expected by anybody who has ever interviewed him. “I was able to take that, own it and make it mine”.

“I think in these past two months I’ve been able to refine all the things I’m supposed to refine”, he said. “It was a great experience”, Hunt said of his interview. “It’s just a huge experience”.
