Bears’ Jeffery doubtful for game against Tampa Bay
It appears that the Bears will be shorthanded on both sides of the ball Sunday when they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. Christian Jones will start in McClellin’s place. Jeffery injured his hamstring against the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday.
Chicago could theoretically line Jeffery up alongside promising rookie Kevin White (who has not appeared in a game this season with his own injury) next year. The problem is that health is becoming an alarming concern for Jeffery.
For Chicago, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, guard/tackle Nick Becton and right tackle Tayo Fabuluje are out on offense while cornerbacks Bryce Callahan (quadriceps) and Jacoby Glenn, linebacker Shea McClellin (concussion) and defensive lineman Bruce Gaston are out on defense. He has been one of the better pass-catchers in the league when healthy this season, but he has only notched a catch in nine games because of various ailments. Royal could be a candidate to be cut this off-season depending on how the Bears address their wide receiving core.
