Bears QB suffers nasty leg injury vs Chiefs
Chicago Bears QB Connor Shaw broke his leg in ugly fashion.
To Shaw, who went undrafted in 2014 out of SC, the unflagged hit was unnecessary and dirty.
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported that Shaw suffered no ligament damage despite breaking his right leg above the ankle.
“Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family”, Fox said. Shaw was visibly frustrated, chewing on the cross pendant around his neck while he was being carted off. Saturday, Shaw went 5-for-6 for 68 yards and the team’s only touchdown, a 16-yard pass to Cameron Meredith.
Connor Shaw called the hit that snapped his leg an unnecessary “cheap” shot.
Shaw had seemingly cemented himself as the Bears’ third quarterback – either on the roster or practice squad.
Shaw took to Twitter and scolded Chiefs defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches, writing, “Injuries are a part of the game & I understand that”.
Then with under three minutes left in the game, Shaw took a hit that was described as “gruesome” by those that saw replays of the injury to his left leg. “He’s a tough and resilient kid and he’s gonna need that now, as it’s going to be a dark time”. Leonard Floyd, who missed a practice with a hamstring injury, was in uniform but did not play.
“We just held [Floyd] out like some of the other guys”, Fox said.
