Bears Trade Jon Bostic To Patriots
Bostic ended the 2013 season with 57 tackles, two sacks and one interception.
That being said, the Chicago Bears will receive a conditional 2016 sixth-rounder draft pick in that agreement, per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Changing teams with Bostic was veteran defensive end Jared Allen, who was traded by the Bears to the Carolina Panthers on Monday. He later injured an ankle in the preseason and spent the first three weeks of the regular season as a game-day inactive.
Jon Bostic has been in New England for less than 24 hours and he already sounds like a Patriot.
And, coincidentally, Bostic’s first full day in town happened to align with the others in his position group getting together for dinner, something the linebackers try to do occasionally during the season.
Bostic, the team’s leading returning tackler after safety Ryan Mundy was placed on injured reserve in August, was a second-round pick of the Bears in 2013. Per ESPN’s Field Yates and Jeff Dickerson, the second move the of the Bears retooling has been done.
The New England Patriots have reportedly traded for linebacker Jonathan Bostic, pending a physical. But he was never able to seriously challenge for one of the starting inside linebacker spots this year, partly because a back problem caused him to fall behind in the Bears’ offseason program.
“What I remember”, Bostic said Tuesday, “is that they worked the mess out of us”.
With the Chicago Bears winless for the season, they decide to have a fire sale.
“Trying to pick up everything on special teams and defense in a couple of days is definitely tough, so the bye week, it will definitely help out”, Bostic said.
