Beats Music to shut on Nov 30
YouTube’s new music-streaming service aims to use the site’s massive video collection to bury the competition with content. Alphabet Inc launched the YouTube Music Mobile App on November 11, less than a month after rolling out YouTube Red, a service that provides ads-free access to all YouTube services.
The move, which had been widely expected, comes a little more than a year after Apple completed its $3 billion acquisition of Beats, known for its high-end headphones and other audio equipment in addition to its streaming service.
Apple has announced that Beats Music will close on Nov 30, and all subscriptions will be cancelled.
“We want the Daily 40 to be the place you go to know what everyone else is watching and talking about and sharing”, said YouTube music products head T. Jay Fowler in a report by The Wall Street Journal.
“All the pros that curated music for you are still crafting more unbelievable experiences”, the statement said.
Considering Spotify and Apple Music are available across Android and iOS for quite a few time now, YouTube’s Music app has big shoes to fill in.
The radio station will remain free, even for users who do not pay the $9.99 a month to stream artists, and Apple has made the service integral to its latest operating system on iPhones. The app is like a typical music service where people can look for artists, individual songs, and alums.
Also, Apple Music and Spotify require the users to listen to songs and download them, which is more like downloading a paid full-version of any application. However, due to a link with Google account and YouTube Red, the app can become a hit amongst both Musicians and Audiophiles.
