Beauty pageant queen accused of faking cancer
Butler’s Beauties, the company that sponsors the pageant, says in a Facebook page statement that they were also “led to believe that she was dealing with this awful disease” and are making her return her crown and sash. She regularly convinced her sister to drive her to John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for treatments. During all this time, Ms Weaver-Gates would go to a different a part of the hospital the place her kin couldn’t see her after which merely come again after her “remedy” can be over. It is unclear whether she duped her own family or if they were in on the scam. Peters held a dance for Weaver-Gates.
However, suspicions started to swirl about her condition when she was asked by a fundraising platform to name any of her doctors and she was unable to.
According to state police, a short investigation into the claims discovered that Weaver-Gates was lying. “It was very delicate at first”, said State Police investigator Thomas Stock.
Dethroned beauty pageant queen, Brandi Lee Weaver-Gates has been arrested and charged with felonies over a years-long cancer faking scam.
At a charity event in April, $14,000 was raised to go toward Weaver-Gates’ treatment and now police are asking anyone who donated to step forward.
“Butler’s Beauties is deeply saddened of this news of Miss Brandi Weaver-Gates”.
When it comes to stories of people doing terrible things for personal gain, this one is right up there with the worst of them: A 23-year-old Pennsylvania beauty queen is in jail on charges that she faked having leukemia to benefit from fundraisers!
She was arrested on Tuesday and will stay at the Centre County Correctional Facility until she pays her $150,000 bond.
