Beckham NFL suspension appeal set for Wednesday
“I hope the league office gets a chance to review the film and see what they can do, because players like that don’t deserve to be in the game, ” Norman said after the game.
A decision on the appeal is expected quickly, perhaps the same day.
Odell Beckham Jr. was probably not thinking of stock returns when he slammed into Josh Norman during the Giants’ loss to the Panthers last Sunday.
If the suspension is upheld, Beckham would not be permitted this week to be at the Giants’ practice facility.
And you can easily hear someone screaming Odell’s name from the Panthers’ side of the field, presumably saying something the Giants wideout didn’t appreciate..
Beckham leads the Giants with 91 catches for 1,396 yards and 13 touchdowns. Specifically, the league cited his helmet-to-helmet hit Carolina cornerback Josh Norman during the game. There was no media availability with Beckham on Monday.
As I listened to the second half of Sunday’s Panthers-Giants game on the radio – I was stuck in traffic coming home from visiting family – I wondered what the hell was wrong with Odell Beckham Jr. While we realize that teams and individual players may have items they use as motivation or to symbolize a theme that the team has used this season, we ask that you instruct your club and player to leave those items in the locker room.
After Sunday’s game, Beckham refused to discuss his run-ins with Norman. Beckham was penalized three times for three unnecessary roughness and Norman got two.
Marquee receiver Beckham and premier cornerback Norman waged a ferocious battle spiked by trash talking, grabbing, pushing, punching, kicking and a serial display of cheap shots that earned both players several penalties.
“So that disappoints me because if there’s something out there that’s factual, there’s truth, there’s hard evidence, please present it to us as well so we can react accordingly”.
If you’re not into sports, I’ll try to summarize briefly. “He’s got to learn at some point how to deal with some things on the field”, Coughlan said.
“A lot of people will start pointing that way that this is a great opportunity to evaluate players in regular-season games”, Garrett said Monday.
Why would the league limit itself in terms of the types of punishment to be doled out?
According to ESPN, an unnamed Giants source said Monday that “Giants players on the field heard Panthers defensive players direct anti-gay slurs and expletives at Beckham before the game”. But now they’re are looking at facing the Vikings, who have their own playoff dream to chase, without their best player.
