Beef Comment ‘Twisted and Misconstrued’ Says Haryana CM Khattar
On October 26, Khattar being a political greenhorn and first-time legislator, completes a year as a chief minister.
Reacting to the CM’s statement, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that Khattar has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) mentality, and that his statements were not shocking.
The BJP leader termed the Dadri lynching incident as wrong and a result of misunderstanding.
As news spread about his statement this morning, his OSD Yadav apparently did not get in touch with his boss and gave a statement to TV reporters that the statement attributed to Khattar was “distorted”. A chief minister has made such a statement and the prime minister and governor are silent. “Even if there is a word which hurts someone’s sentiments I am ready to regret”, Mr Khattar said. “It appears that the statement that the Chief Minister made was on the behest of RSS”, said Chautala.
In a twitter war, between Haryana chief minister and J&K former chief minister, Goa’s chief minister has been roped into a controversy over banning beef, with reference to Goa. “It is written nowhere that Muslims have to eat beef, nor is it written anywhere in Christianity that they have to eat beef”.
He said that even Muslim community in Mewat during his visit, had assured him that they will not slaughter cows, respecting sentiments of majority community.
“We appeal to the President to intervene in this matter as life of minorities and Dalits is terrible in Haryana which is unsafe for the country”, Malik said.
“The views expressed by Khattar are not that of the party”. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said. The party said Khattar’s comment were a blow to the country’s secular fabric and a criminal case should be registered against him.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister also denied that intolerance was increasing in the country and said that such incidents have been taking place in the past too.
