Belgium Seeks 2 New Suspects in Paris Attacks
So far, eight suspects have been arrested in Belgium in connection with the Paris attacks and plans to terrorise Brussels.
Belgium’s federal prosecutor’s office spokesman Jean-Pascal Thoreau says the arrests came after a vehicle with Belgian license plates was seen close to the Bataclan theater in Paris on Friday night, one of the places where victims were killed.
(CNN) – Belgian authorities Friday released pictures of two unidentified men they’re seeking in connection with the probe into the fatal Paris attacks, saying they believe the two are linked to fugitive suspect Salah Abdeslam.
The two suspects carrying fake Belgian identity cards as Samir Bouzid and Soufiane Kayal went to Budapest with Abdeslam in a Mercedes on September 9.
The other false identity card, for Samir Bouzid, was used four days after the attacks to transfer 750 euros at a Western Union office in Brussels to Hasna Aitboulahcen, cousin of the suspected mastermind of the atrocity, Abdelhamid Abaaoud.
At least one person connected to the attacks was thought to have traveled to Britain beforehand, according to the WSJ.
Prosecutors said that one of the men was held on Sunday at an airport in Brussels trying to leave for Morocco, while another was held the same day in Brussels’ Molenbeek area.
Since the attacks, the shuttered cafe has been piled high with flowers, like the other sites of the November 13 attacks that left 130 people dead. They were stopped at the Hungarian-Austrian border for checks.
Police also issued likenesses of the two men.
Belgian Pierre N., born in 1987, was also detained during a search at his home in the Brussels district of Molenbeek on Sunday morning.
Another of those charged, Ali Oulkadi, allegedly drove the key suspect around the Belgian capital.
Mohamed Bakkali, the owner of the house in Auvelais that was rented with Kayal’s card and used by the terrorists as a hideout, was charged with “terrorist murder and with participating in the activities of a terrorist group” on November 27, France24 reports.
