Bellew forces Haye to throw in towel
“Credit to Tony Bellew”.
Haye won’t go! He is a big, big name in boxing and is still one of the most risky heavyweights out there.
It is Bellew’s first fight at heavyweight and he has had limited time to make the transition.
“I’ve never been in a fight like that before”.
The pair were involved in a dramatic heavyweight bout at London’s O2 Arena. Having secured exclusive content as part of this agreement, we plan to use this association to grow our brand awareness in the UK. That’s the best price you will find on that one at present, and will give an interest to those who are struggling to pick a side.
A lucrative rematch in Liverpool would be a must in the summer but, for now, let Bellew bask in his success at proving 99% of the boxing world wrong.
Bellew added: “We’ll evaluate everything on Monday morning, but the salt and pepper are on my side of the table next time because I’ve just come down to his back yard”.
“Come back here and crunch, it’s done”.
Haye went down in the 11th round and Shane McGuigan threw in the towel for his boxer’s health preservation.
“Just before the stoppage I looked at David and said “stop now”,” Bellew said. If Bellew takes him deep into the fight, can Haye last physically?
Haye had missed four years of his career thanks to a shoulder injury, before he made his return to the ring last year.
An early knockout for Haye, though, would earn him good publicity and potentially put him in the frame for a big fight in the heavyweight scene. The more success I have, the more Carl has, the younger guys feel the energy and it spurs everyone else on: the success of a big fight.
Liverpudlian Bellew must now decide whether to defend his WBC cruiserweight title or remain at heavyweight, where he could seek to become a two-weight world champion.
