Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner confirm split
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are getting a divorce. But all seemed well in the world of Jen and Ben when they were seen on a family trip with their kids at a farmer’s market earlier in June.
A divorce isn’t reason to dethrone Affleck and Garner as #RelationshipGoals royalty. While the news undoubtedly devastated the fans and followers of the two, an official statement from their representatives urged the public to give the spouses the much needed privacy they crave during this trying period.
Garner has starred in films such as Disney’s “Alexander and the awful, “Dallas Buyers Club“, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” in recent years.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary in Detroit. At the time when they met on the set of Pearl Harbor, Ben was engaged to Jennifer Lopez in a romance heavily reported by tabloids (“Bennifer” began the trend of combining celebrity names), while Jennifer was still married to actor Scott Foley.
Last year, Affleck praised Garner during a November gala for choosing “not so time-consuming” projects and still spend time with their kids.
“They don’t want this to be War of the Roses”, a source told USA Magazine.
Sources from their camp dismissed talk of a divorce by saying they were just redecorating – while preparing for their 10 wedding anniversary. They are parents to Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and three-year-old Samuel.
A family starts… the couple at the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees baseball game in 2005.
“You just have to hang in there while you figure it out – and have a lot of patience for each other”.
In a 2014 interview cited by People, Garner described their marriage as in a “mindful” stage. “That’s not it. You define what’s important to you by what you dedicate your time to”.
It is noted though that in 2013, when Affleck received a Best Picture Oscar for “Argo“, the director confirmed that his marriage “is work”. The director said: “It is work but it’s the best kind of work and there is nobody else I would rather do that kind of work with”.
