Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner to divorce
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have issued a joint statement announcing they are divorcing, confirming rumors their 10-year marriage has been in trouble for some time. The two got married in a secret Caribbean ceremony on June 29, 2005.
In a joint statement, the couple stated, “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the hard decision to divorce“.
Actually not that messy a divorce, Elin simply stood by as more and more revelations about her husband’s extramarital activities rolled out, never let the paparazzi see her sweat and walked off with $100 million at the end of it all to buy a lovely mansion for herself and her children.Elin, we salute you.
It is unlikely Jennifer – who has children Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and three-year-old Samuel with Ben – will be awarded spousal support because of her wealth.
Meanwhile, it is rumored that Affleck is set to produce a Hollywood film about the Federation Internationale de Football Association scandal with his friend Matt Damon after Warner Brothers acquired the rights to the “House Of Deceit” book, The Telegraph has learned.
Jennifer and Ben have been in therapy for years, the source said.
Garner, who rose to fame in the TV series “Alias“, has also appeared in such movies as “Catch Me if You Can”, “13 Going on 30” and “Dallas Buyers Club“.
Last month United States reports claimed that the much loved couple had already separated, with Ben’s alleged gambling causing strain on the relationship. When they started dating, Affleck was fresh off the demise of Bennifer, the name given to his pairing with previous girlfriend Jennifer Lopez and their box-office bombs, “Gigli” and “Jersey Girl”. They are now understood to be seeking mediation to finalise the particulars of their divorce. The insider added that Garner and Affleck – or “BenJen” – did their best to make the marriage work. “I want to thank my wife…for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases”. “But we’re definitely in a very mindful place where we’re making an effort to be together, do things at the same time, and be loving”.
Garner, 43, said at the same event that she and Affleck were selective about the causes they support.
