Ben Affleck may star in a trilogy of solo ‘Batman’ films
Possibly adding legitimacy to this rumor, Deadline reported that Warner Bros. has decided to push back two of their upcoming films that both feature Affleck in a starring role.
The studio stated announced the change yesterday, said The Hollywood Reporter. Affleck will reportedly direct and star in the movie.
Warner Bros. has yet to confirm the validity of this report. An anonymous source from the industry detailed that “Batman v Superman” was screened for Warner top honchos and the film’s crew within the last 24 hours or so.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
As for “The Accountant“, production had already finished earlier this summer, so it’s unknown why the film was pushed to October, other than the possibility of filling the slot “Live by Night” is vacating with another Affleck film. It will set as a backgrounder for another DC movie coming out next year, “Suicide Squad“.
Ben Affleck’s Batman casting has been met with some skepticism, to say the least, but that skepticism is apparently not shared by Warner Bros. executives. According to the fan-made website, the new “Batman v. Superman” still photo was reposted by one of the 251 Instagram followers of the film maker. WB’s head honchos are reportedly so impressed that they are trying to sign Affleck to a three picture deal for solo Batman flicks (Affleck will co-write, star and direct in 2018’s “The Batman“). He is slated to appear in the 2017 “Justice League, Part One” and the 2019 “Justice League, Part Two“. He will be taking over the cape and cowl from Christian Bale, who played the Dark Knight in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.
