Ben and Jerry’s ice cream recalled after metal scare
“Ben & Jerry’s internal quality assurance checks have shown that a limited number of Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough 500ml products may contain small pieces of metal”, read the warning, saying that the company was voluntarily recalling the affected batches.
Customers were advised to check the batch number on the bottom of tubs, and not eat the product if it matched the recalled batches.
Consumer goods giant Unilever issued a press notice and in-stores notices requesting customers who have bought these batches of the ice cream not to eat them.
Hundreds of Cookie Dough flavour ice cream are feared to have been contaminated with unsafe shards of metal.
Four different batch codes – on sale here and in the United Kingdom – are affected.
It is urging people to check product codes on the base of tubs to see if theirs is among those affected.
The batch codes are L62110L011, L62111L011, L62112L011 and L62113L011.
Four batches of the ice-cream are thought to be affected, with customers asked to check batch numbers printed at the bottom of their pots.
