Ben and Jerry’s unveils a dairy-free range of our favourite ice-cream
PB & Cookies is an indulgent mix of vanilla ice-cream, chocolate sandwich cookies and peanut butter swirls, and Coffee Caramel Fudge is a fusion of coffee-flavoured ice-cream with fudge chunks and caramel swirls.
The lineup includes two classic Ben & Jerry’s flavors and two non-dairy exclusive flavors.
The collection has been hailed as a victory by lactose-intolerant consumers and vegans, who have been asking the brand for years to create alternatives.
Offering an ice cream for their vegan customers would signal the company’s support for cutting back on animal products, it continues.
The ice cream is vegan, fair-trade and most probably scruuuumdiddlyumptious. They’ll be available by the pint and at the company’s Scoop Shops.
Packed in pint tubs, the four flavours use a certified vegan almond milk base. “Creating these new flavours with a non-dairy base composition that meets the high expectations of Ben & Jerry’s consumers was quite a challenge”, said Ben & Jerry’s flavour guru Kirsten Schimoler. The founders had taken a $5 course on how to make ice cream. The ice cream maker labeled this as “non-dairy frozen dessert”.
