Ben Carson calls for database of all foreigners in US
When asked why Carson appeared so calm, he responded: “Oh I’m like a koala bear”.
Carson also defended his comment from earlier this week that seemed to liken the concern about Syrian refugees to a fear of rapid dogs, blaming the harsh reaction to the comments on a negative media narrative. “Hopefully we already have a database on every citizen who is already here”. “There are people who are radical jihadists and they want to destroy us, and we don’t want to expose our people to them, even though we may love all the other people from Syria”.
The host kicked things off by showing exclusive video footage of a “crazed mob of Syrian refugees” entering the country, before they realized it was actually just Walmart shoppers on Black Friday. “What I would say is, listen to my policies”.
Although Carson has spent little time campaigning in New Hampshire – his filing and subsequent rally were his only stop in the state Friday – he said he intends to spend more time here in the future, noting he likes New Hampshire. Actually listen to my solutions.
If people listen to what he says about foreign policy they will find he compares favorably with other candidates, he said.
Asked Sunday if people might take his use of “anti-American” to mean he supported restricting liberties, Carson said, “I think anybody with normal intellect knows exactly what I’m saying”.
The retired neurosurgeon is second to Donald Trump in New Hampshire polls. Despite a conservative bend that has traditionally fared better in Iowa, Carson said he doesn’t plan to change his message to win New Hampshire.
“I don’t sit there with a tally sheet and say, “Oh he’s been here three more times than I have so I gotta get there, ‘” Carson said”.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to treat anybody differently”, he said.
“I’m here to hear the heart of New Hampshire”, Carson exclaimed to excited fans and onlookers. He did not hold any bigger campaign events in the state, but his staff did notify reporters that he would be stopping at a local Burger King to eat after filing before departing again for Iowa.
But the highlight of the sketch came with the return of Jay Pharoah’s Dr. Ben Carson.
